Portraits are a fantastic way of letting children express themselves.  I never tire of working on these pieces.  The unique, honest way in which children portray themselves is always refreshingly surprising, not to mention amusing.  I’m yet waiting for a school brave enough to let the children paint the staff for their identification board!

This was a year 5 class portrait, even though everyone was given the same size piece of paper the difference in scale is interesting.

Here children painted a self portrait and attached a tag to say what they were thankful for.
